A thread for ambient music that has a “darker” or isolated feel. Though ominous sounding, the music might represent the “void” in Epicurean thought and the vast cosmos.
Add Dark Ambient, dark space ambient and dark drone music to this thread.

I listened to a few seconds of some of these...there is movie soundtrack feeling of science fiction...exploring outerspace.
Sometime soon I will dig through my music to find some "Epicurean" music to share. And it does seem that pleasure derived from music is so dependent on personal taste, as well as mood...and what we are needing at a given time.
I love all sorts of music…classical especially. Dark ambient has a practical application for me. I’ll use dark ambient and drone as a sort of meditative mental detox tool. The drone and the somewhat unnerving tones will redirect my thoughts away from any external chaos from work, online turbulence etc.
Throw headphones on, isolate yourself someplace dark and quiet and try to let go of all mental turbulence.

That's my recipe for nap time!
Believe me I can pass out to this too. I sleep every night with a loud white noise machine and earplugs. I found that ANY external noises wake me up and disturb my sleep and those two things have been a cure.
I can hear the dog breathing in the room, the cats outside the door, the dishwasher on the first floor even with a sound machine on. So ear plugs take care of the rest. Sensory deprivation sleep for me!

Oh wow! I am sensitive to sound in exactly the same way. I use either a small fan or now lately have been using an air-filtering machine to make white noise to cover up the various "noise issues" in my environment. But unfortunately can't use earplugs so the white noise only works halfway. And it doesn't work when my landlady on the other side of the wall watches tv or does house cleaning in the middle of the night (which luckily only happens occassionally, in sporatic cycles). So I have been wanting to move to a better situation for a long time. This year finally going to make it happen...getting focused toward making some big changes...wanting to move near my sister on the East Coast.
I am in the "air cleaner" / fan white noise crowd myself, but regularly experiment in better ways of screening. I doubt I could tolerate ear plugs but might give that a try.
Ear plugs take some getting used to, I was skeptical, but the first night of “dead to the world” Stoic sleep was pleasant. Sometimes I wake up and think I’m deaf, but that happens much less now.
