What are all the epicurean virtues listed by importance?
Isn't it go something like honesty gratitude prudence moderation courage??? -
Well I am reading about her she makes interesting points. I have studied a little on the arts of dating and women often talk about temper anxiety jealous with passionate love. I am not saying I agree with everything she says but I am a firm believer in not judging a book by its cover because all books can teach us something new. Is the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy a good source for accurate information? Since it is a short article I'll read it later for now I need to try and go back to sleep. Thankfully, Monday is my day off.
So what epicureans the originals argued was that passionate sexual love was bad and that sex shouldn't be done with passion but for only baring children? Does that sound correct? Friendship, Marriage, and sex only for baring children..etc. Thoughts?? -
Wow this lady is way ahead of her time.
"For romantic love to flourish, reciprocity must reign between the two partners. Men as well as women must cultivate the gentle arts of charm, flirtation, and fascination. The sexual stereotype of the emotional woman and the rational man must be abolished in favor of a more egalitarian vision of both genders called to develop both their intellectual and affective personalities." -
I see now they are actually not Epicureans at all. They claim to call themselves "neo-epicureans". Maybe this is where the idea that epicureanism was about enjoying fine food and wine. Isn't that the person that came up with that magazine with the similar name to epicurus or epicurean that is about fine foods and living a french magazine?

"It would be useless to press the arguments, repeated a hundred times by the Epicureans, that the love of pleasure and the abolition of pain are the primary and most natural inclinations noticed in all people. Wealth, power, honor, and virtue contribute to our happiness, but the enjoyment of pleasure, let us call it voluptuousness, to sum up everything in a word, is the true aim and purpose to which all human acts are inclined”
Epicurus wrote, “When we say, then, that pleasure is the end and aim, we do not mean the pleasures of the prodigal or the pleasures of sensuality, as we are understood to do by some through ignorance, prejudice, or willful misrepresentation. By pleasure we mean the absence of pain in the body and of trouble in the soul"

Looks like she is more akin to Cyrenaicism than Epicureanism. So It appears Ross from the FB group was correct about that those Epicureans in France were actually more Cyrenaic.

I believe you need to have itunes installed on windows, mac os or the apple music app on android to be able to listen to it. Anything as far as I know whether it is free or not apple encrypted their audio files so you can only use it with their software. As of this writing there is software to get around this encryption but you have to pay for it. I just tried accessing the podcast via apple music on android and it doesn't work.

What about adding material that mentions Epicurus? A book I am almost finished with that I had a therapy class in mentions Epicurus it is called "The Gratitude Dairies". Well, since it isn't legal to share it we could if relevant add it to a document list of recommended pay for items.

I have downloaded epicurus.net and works flawlessly with all the links I tried, however, with epicurism.info I have had trouble with the links when I navigate them from the downloaded version. I downloaded them using httrack website fetching archiving software.

This is suggestions for version 2.
The old version 1 is here.
Please state what I should keep add or remove. I've listed the folder Epicureanism contents below. I thought it would be useful to have an archive of our legally sharable materials in our circle of Epicurean friends on the web that have been shared over the years. I've tried to make sure that all the content is legally sharable. Please do not make suggestions for adding content that is not legal to share thank you! Also please seed and share torrent one. If you don't know how to use Bittorrent file sharing click here. I recommend the Bittorrent client qBittorrent. I am not finished adding the audiobooks that Cassius Amicus has added on newepicurean website. I may remove the male voice I just thought it would be useful to have both so as if one had a preference for the other.

It is also available as a free ebook on project gutenberg which I'd recommend to use rather than the google books edition if you are using a small screen. https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/10665

Which book(s) of Philodemus is this that has these writings?
-
I believe and follow mostly the fundamentals handouts Cassius had made. I haven't read them all yet but I finished the first one and I follow that entirely except for this one I am not sure about which I'll discuss now.
That being said I was wondering what if someone has a medical issue where their senses can see or hear that are not there and or have intrusive thoughts can you still be an epicurean and use logic to reason out why those problems are not real. For example, with intrusive thoughts that are negative the medical field recommends to use logic to reason out why it isn't true and come up with a more reasonable conclusion. Did the Epicureans advocate anything to counteract these thoughts?
